Hello, families! Already the first school week of 2021 under our belts! Wow!
Today in class, we continued establishing our new daily grammar routine by reviewing the verb Être.
Then, in a Science, we explored the question, can you blow out a candle if there is a bottle placed in front of it. We had a chance to discuss our predictions in partners before watching a video to find the answer. (COVID is currently making it tricky to complete these types demonstrations in class! VIDEO HERE.)
We made many great observations that the outcome of the experiment would depend on: the size of the bottle/container, the distance between the candle, bottle and person blowing air, and the force/speed at which the air is moving. With permission to use a candle at home and ensuring we are being safe, we can explore many of these factors to see if we can replicate the results.
We ended the morning in Math, and used the laptops to explore two new "Plan cartésien" books in NetMaths. They have not been officially assigned as homework, but we are welcome to work on them over the weekend if we would like.
Wishing you all a great weekend, with time spent outside enjoying this beautiful weather! :)

AGENDA
1. Science + Math: Try out the candle and bottle experiment shown in class today and work on NetMaths books if you have a chance,
2. Time to start French home reading again! If you've been out of routine over the break, today is a great day to login to Je lis and get started again!
3. Time for a bit of organization! This week, students have been asked to take a look at their binders and their supply boxes to see what sort of state they are in. They have also been asked to check their supplies. Do they need more pencils? Pens? Did they even get dividers put into their binder? Can they finally bring in a Hilroy scribbler for Math? Please check in with your child to make sure they are set for a great second term!
