The Last Friday of School for 2020!

Hello, learning friends! Happy Friday!

The time has flown by and our last morning together before winter break sped by in a flash!

In Math, we started with a special two-part esti-mystère (that we all solved remarkably fast!) before moving on to a challenging mystery coordinate picture. The only hint we got was "GRRRR" and Mme certainly didn't help us by announcing a different (and misleading) hint every couple of minutes!

We persevered and soon discovered the mystery picture was of the Grinch!

We were then treated to story of the Grinch himself.

After our morning break, we did a listening activity with the song Petit Papa Noël as sung by Raffi. We then geared up for the "Grinchématiques Challenge" and spent the rest of the morning solving short Math questions all themed around the Grinch. (This activity went by so quickly, Mme didn't even get a single picture!)

La matinée de la neige!

Hello, learning families! Happy snowy Tuesday!  

This morning we had a "snow morning" - a morning of learning all themed around snow!

We started in Math with a snow-themed esti-mystère and a secret Brrr-y coordinate picture.

We then worked on a snow-themed reading comprehension and listened to two snow-themed stories.

We ended the morning with a snowflake art and writing activity. A special thanks to Mme McKenzie for stopping by to share her snowflake expertise; she helped us create such beautiful, wintery creations! ❄

Friday!

Hello families!

This morning in Math we took a field trip to the gym to work on a special holiday problem.

Working in randomized groups of three, we were given a price list and were tasked with calculating the cost of the 12 days of Christmas!

We all worked well in our groups and tackled the problem using a variety of different strategies and learned that gifting the 12 days of Christmas isn't cheap!

For the rest of the morning, we worked on a variety of items including: writing the good copy of our "La paix" poems, writing our own "12 Days of Christmas" list (after listening to Mme read Pat le Chat Les 12 jours de Noël) and finishing some "les coordonnées" work in Math, including drawing a mystery Math holiday picture!

We are working hard (with lots of excitement) and are enjoying our time together at school.
